Welcome! JINfinity Energy Lab is a research group at the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University (PI: Prof. Jinhyuk Lee). We develop resource-friendly and high-performing materials for advanced battery technologies, such as Li-ion, Na-ion, Li-metal, and solid-state batteries, by combining experimental (nanomaterials synthesis, electrochemistry, in-situ X-ray characterization, etc.) and computational (DFT, MD, etc.) materials research with leading scientists at McGill University and other world-class research institutes.
April 21, 2025 Prof. Lee's paper on Nanocomposite Engineering of a High-Capacity Partially Ordered Cathode for Li-ion Batteries has been ranked within the top 10% of most-viewed papers published by the journal Advanced Materials in 2023.
Mar 21, 2025 Richie received the 2025 Graduate Student Departmental Scholarship for excellence in research contribution. Congratulations, Richie!
Mar 18, 2025 Hoda gave presented her research on sustainable Li-ion battery materials at the TISED Sustainable Changemaker Showcase. Congratulations, Hoda!
Dec 19, 2024 Prof. Lee was interviewed by CTV News to discuss the potential of Québec's battery industry and how U.S. tariffs could impact its growth.
Dec 9, 2024 Hoda was recently recognized as one of three students selected as ChangeMakers for the 2025 cohort at the SEDTalks 3MT competition at McGill. Congratulations, Hoda!
Sep 3, 2024 Richie won the prestigious K.M. Abraham Travel Award for attending the ECS PRiME 2024 conference!
Sep 2, 2024 Prof. Lee was appointed as a Director of the Alumni Association of Seoul National University (SNU).
June 10, 2024 Our Ph.D. Student Richie Fong won the Presentation Awards – Sustainable Battery Symposium of the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC 2024). Congratulations Richie!
May 28, 2024 Our recent research achievements on Fe- and Mn-based disordered rock-salt cathode materials for Li-ion batteries have been featured in a news article by McGill media relations!
We are currently not looking for more postdocs or graduate students at this moment. Please do not email Prof. Jinhyuk Lee to ask for the position.
